Strange. Try resetting the MMI settings and switch CL lights on and off a few times. Probably a software gremlin.

 

It might be because it lighter nights

 

Hi Thanks for your input Spider and Mojito but no joy. Have reset MMI and turned lights on and off a few times but problem persists... Visit to the Dealer required me thinks!

 

I know the welcome home lights only work when the car thinks it's dark enough - as suggested, I reckon the lighter evenings may be the issue (unless you have tested after 11pm?).

 

Although if i remember right, my A1 also had a similar gremiln with the auto lights.

Software update?

 

I am pretty sure it's the light levels. My C Class is the same, at the moment. If it is parked in the garage, it works fine.

 

Hi Guys, No have tried lights in pitch dark and still the same problem! Work when unlocking but don't when locking up!

 

Yeah I have similar in mine. It just seems random when they come on locking and unlocking.

I suspected it may be down to auto lights (first auto lights and first Audi) and it not being dark enough so I'll test with lights turned to manual off later and see what happens

 

If its like VW's you have to pull the indicator stalk towards you as you get out (As if flashing the headlights). The lights then stay on for 10-30 secs depending on what it is set at. I will go & check mine when it gets dark to see if thats the same for A1's.

No its automatic on the A1.

 

Has the car been anywhere your not unlocking then within a few min relocking the car ?

I just tried the pull the indicator stalk method & it worked........

However, I seem to own the only S1 with no DAB, so base nothing on what my car is doing right now!! :lol:

As a precursor anyone know how it works with advanced key? Is it meant to put light on unlocking keylessly?

 

I think the lights have to be in auto for this to work as well

With keyless the lights come in when you open the doors or boot or via the key fob the coming home functions as soon as you open the door

Yeah I got them to come on with key fob last night. Not driven in dark yet to get them to come on when I open door.
