I was recently informed that the Audi A1 is predominantly bought buy "girls and gay guys". Is there any real truth in this statement?

Personally i dont see a car as an expression of gender unless its painted bright pink and the headlamps have eye lashes.

Noooo, its because stupid people see little cars as small and girly with no power etc...

When in fact the car is pretty powerful, low road tax, great service package, quality interior, low running costs.

Its the old im bigger than you so im harder and better mentality, until the little A1 flys past! ;)

I love my A1's 'Small man syndrome' LOL

I suppose a standard Amalfi SE may look slightly feminine! ;)

My daughter is doing her A-levels at a college where some of her fellow students have very rich parents who buy them cars. One girl was being bought an Audi A1 which described as the "most girly car in the world", so my daughter told her that her dad had just bought one! My previous car was a Citroen Xsara Picasso in Misty Lilac (I let my daughter choose the colour as I wasn't that bothered)! :p

But despite such evidence I am not gay, being happily married with three children. I'm not a girl either (I'm 6'2'', 14.5st and bald-on-top). I think if you worry about such things it implies some sort of deep-rooted insecurity. The A1s I've seen have all been driven by men and I've also seen quite a few trucks driven by women (some of whom may even have been eating Yorkie bars but I couldn't see!)

I would like to know their reasons for it being called 'Girly'

If anyone has this question asked, ask then the reasons why!

I think it all comes down to the 'small car' mentality!

While you are at it, ask them how much their road tax is ;)

Some people just talk so much Bullshit. Could it be because they are jealous maybe?

There's nothing girly or gay in owning an A1. Its a small car yes but a classy small car in my opionion and from everyone else here on the forum.

Funny... I just heard that my nephew who is a car nut and 17 thinks the A1 is a Hairdressers car!

Lets see him get an insurance quote for his first manly car! ;)

I think the Sportback SE we have has a more feminine look to it, I'm not gay, but I still love it. Personally I'd prefer the sport but value for money we went for an SE as it had all the bits we needed. The 15" rims make it look a bit girly with the amalfi white at times but after changing the DRLs to MTECs, looks much smarter now. Matches the nightbreakers very well too!

They think its only a mans car if it is big, high road tax of ÂŁ465, does 10mpg, costs ÂŁ90 to fill the tank, costs over ÂŁ1000 a year insurance and does 0-60 in less than 4 seconds. ;)
