does this software update ONLY apply to climate control units
or to the basic aircon AS WELL

i have basic aircon and when its off the window sometimes does not demist - regardless of fan speed :evil:
so i have to put the aircon on with the "heater" on
.
i dont like town driving with the aircon on because the car loses too much power to it, making it too dangerous to pull out onto a busy roundabout, etc

Mine doesn't steam up, i've found in the past it's usually a sign of moisture in the air con unit. Could be a fault condenser but a way I have fixed this in the past is to drive on a dry day with the windows down a lot, blast the AC on fully cold and then fully hot for a considerable time - e.g. On a long motorway journey. This will give the system a good clear out and get rid of most of the moisture within it. Also give your windows a good clean, dirt and grease makes the moisture gather more easily.

what i have found with previous cars is...
when the a/c is on water builds up on the heat-exchanger then drips off into a tray then drains away
if you turn the engine off (at the end of your journey) water is still on the heat/ex, so when you start again, the fan will blow damp air into the cab

so... to prevent this, turn the a/c off but leave the fan on ~5mins before the journey end, to dry the heat-ex so you don't steam up for the next trip

unfortunately this doesn't seem to work on this car leading me to believe there is a problem with water building up, or not draining away

The reported vcds faults i picked up on a few cars was something to do with the (aircon recirculation flap) So, i think this is related to the above.

Interesting. Mine always has a strong flow of air out of the two side dash vents regardless of where the direction control is set to. Does everybodies do this as I've never had this on any other car?

mine does, though i wouldnt say strong, but its enough to make me think she has issues with her flaps
