Steaming up of windows

Had a similar problem with our A1 in the winter - rear and front windows dripping wet, condensation galore - most unpleasant. Tried silicon gel packs to no avail.

Reported it to local Audi dealer but they denied any knowledge of such an issue. Scoured the German A1 forum and discovered a software update for the air con system that helped other A1 owners with exact same problem. Eventually the dealer tracked down the update, carried it out... and since then no more condensation.

Not what you expect to happen with a premium brand like Audi, mind.

The new software (software flash - service code 55G4?) ensures better demisting of the front windscreen (airco regulating unit).

Check this 4-page thread out in German: www.a1talk.de/audi-a1-allgemein/3683-an ... ibe-1.html

The dealer should carry out a software update on the air conditioning system to correct the problem.

Here's what one Audi owner in Germany experienced:

"The windscreen vents were no longer being triggered properly (software error, Audi has a specific number for the problem). An update of the air con system corrected the error and it now works fine. The faulty software was unable to recognise the position of the servomotor for the front windscreen vents. Check whether the air vents blast out air on the front windscreen when you press the defroster button."
