Hi All,
Im sure most of us will have been offered GAP insurance by our supplying dealer at some stage. The forum has mentioned the use of other companies such as ALA

So I came across this, may be of interest to you, or not:

Interesting read... I paid ÂŁ500 for gap insurance on my S1 through my dealer. I'm aware that my insurance company replace for new within the first year anyway but I wasn't bullied but pushed towards going for it. They also tried to push paint insurance, tyre insurance and alloy wheel insurance on me and were actually quite bullish about it making it seem like they were doing my a favour.

I think I'll look at cancelling the gap insurance as I paid ÂŁ500 up front for it...

Hi

ÂŁ500 is an outrage, so cancel if possible and look at ALA. I have used them for years and pay around ÂŁ100 for three years cover, or give Adrian Flux a call and see what they can offer.

Just some advise guys, thoroughly check out any Independent Company's credentials first, I see first hand customers saying they can get GAP at xxx amount which is fine.
However you want to make sure they will pay out if the worst was to happen. Whilst you may pay a premium for some policies you have the peace of mind of knowing they wont go bust e.g. AXA
I mean this is ALA'S Registered office:

Hi,

Agree you should check out the company before purchasing, but to say you may pay a premium for some policies to have peace of mind is a bit strong when that premium dealers charge is usually three, or even four times the cost of policies from the likes of ALA. Ok their Registered office is nothing special, but the polices are underwritten by a reasonably large outfit. See below.
