I am never sure either, I can only pass on what I have found out and that is not much unfortunately,

But MMI plus with Jukebox and hard drive should be 3G (I think)

Anything with RMC as a title is NOT 2G / 3G.

I have a Photo of mojito's serial number, downloaded from this forum. It report: RMC Connect Plus Navi, like the mine one.
If mojito has locked the VIM with this kind of radio, it could be' a VERY good news :D

Good evening
I did not understand the VIM situation.
I did not understand what kind of MMI does mojito have(MMI plus or radio concert with navigation)
I have a Concert RMC with navigation on a MY2012 A1 and i'm looking for a VIM solution.
Can someone brief the situation?

Sorry for mY VERY BAD english :(
Firstly, there is no need to apologise about your English it is very clear, and as I only speak one language I could not do what you have done and post on a foregn language forum!!

As for VIM,

If you have the RMC then you will not find a way to enable video in motion unless you try one of the "hardware" solutions mentioned above, they are expensive and have to be fitted (not tried them myself).

If you have the 2G or 3G system then with a VCDS cable you can enable VIM without any need for anything else).

hi Steve,

I'm a Filippo's friend and we are from the A1 Italy Forum (as Mojito already knows :) )
I was thinking about the various differences between the different multimedia radios equipped on the A1 and my bought is:
- the concert radio (RMC) has the 56-Radio unit in VCDS and in the basic infos appear the sn
- the concert plus nav (mmi basic 3G) has the 5F-Inf Elect unit without sn
- the MMI Plus (MMI 3g) has also the 5F unit with sn in infos

now the question is: if concert plus nav and MMI plus has the same unit, I think that is possible to unlock VIM also on the first via VAG-COM using the sn written on the label that is attached on the back of the radio, like this one (that's mine).

I've tried to follow the steps to unlock vim using a not original interface and VCDS 11.2/10.6.4, but unlock codes are not correct, damn...do you have any idea?!

thank you very much!

Luca

I dont think that is the serial number. Only MMI PLUS with chrome front can be decoded at this time.

No the serial is hidden. The generator does not work with that number.

If you dont have the MMI with the chrome front you can not VIM. Sorry.

No i dont have chrome front and i can not VIM. Steve B does.

Using VCDS it is listed in a auotscan on channel 5F... Or maybe on the rear of the unit

Thanks Steve, going to install today ;)
Hi Steve,

The unit turned out to be faulty, now waiting for a replacement. :|
OMG

I am so sorry, I am sure they wll sort it out quickly for you.
I was indicating how good the product was (when it is not broken). Sorry, I feel a bit responsible.

I am still over the moon with mine.
Just a tip, when you fit it do hook it up to a constant live on the correct wire.
I didn't, I just connected both wires together and it works fine, but it defaults to subtitles every time.

I am sure it will be worth the hassle

NOOOOOOOO!! don't be responible not your fault you're just trying to be very helpfull.
The salear was very helpfull is communication was floorless.

I fed the live to the cigarate lighter the attachment came with the unit, just join them togther.
By the the way how did you manage to feed the ariel wires through the side pannel where the seat belt is?

Please don't fill guilty ;)

Hi
Thanks for that.

I did not remove any panels, I just pushed the cable under the rubber around the door at the top and then pushed the cable into the rubber window surround.

If you connect both live cables together then I would be interested to know if you have the same effect that I do, in that the system starts up with subtitles on. I am going to connect the wiring do that the correct one is permanent live and this will hopefully save the subtitle settings at off.

Thanks for that Steve.
As for the unit all I could see grayish blank screen and a hissing sound ,just had a email from the sealer ,the new unit is in the post.

When you mention regarding the live wire, where do you pull from, was it from the fuse box or under the dash?

I still refer the cigarette lighther plug method

Hi
I still take both live feeds from the lighter socket. I would suggest you try that first, it is the safest option.
Just let me know if yours defaults to subtitles on first. If not then you are fine to leave it plugged in to the lighter socket.
But if you have the same issue as me (subtitles defaulting on) then I would find a permanent live for the relevant wire (yellow I think, but I will check).

I still think it might be a setting in the menu that I need to change but I have not found it just yet.

So try the socket first and let me know how you get on.

Thanks! If this works... I may invest in one! :)

Because I've a RMC unit, and not a MMI unit, I can't enable VIM by VCDS.
Now I've ordered this item: http://wibutec.com/wp-shop/index.php?a=1778&lang=eng
The seller claims that it should work, so I'm very excited.
I should receive it in one of the next following days, so I let you guys know!
Please don't forget to post your results as i am very urged of enabling VIM
