Morning all,

I haven't been on here in a while decided to keep my A3 Black Edition until the warranty runs out next April.

I'm 99% getting an A1 black edition ordering probably December/ January. I've been playing around with spec and like the idea of the connectivity pack basically due to the bluetooth music streaming. I'm now under the impressions however that all A1s with the basic Bluetooth can stream music is this correct?
The two SD cards don't interest me but the possibility of the SD navigation the future might be something I want to upgrade to. Has anyone had connectivity pack then later purchased the SD nav? I have VCDS currently so is it a case of clicking a button to activate then buying the SD nav card and hey presto?? Or a stealer activation at silly money?

Cheers in advance.

Hi

For the SD sat nav you need to purchase a licence as well as the maps and the current price is around ÂŁ400 for the maps and licence pack, and an additional ÂŁ65 - ÂŁ80 for activation by the dealer. I looked at this, as have a few other people, and so far there is no way round just buying the maps and activating the system yourself using VCDS. We live in hope though.

Personally I would add the connectivity if you can justify the cost as it may help resale values and you never know what Audi will do with the pricing of the licene and activation.

As said use a sd card for your music... Go for connectivity if you think you would go for the satnav sd card in the future.

Myself? I just use my iPhone satnav and stream directions through bluetooth to the stereo.

All a matter of taste. For me, having integrated satnav was a no-brainer. I really value not having to deal with holders, power cables etc. I too often need to park in places where even the ring left over from removing a suction cup holder can be enough to get your windows banged in. And it is so much more convenient too.

In the end, I got the Technology Pack as it was easily available within the company car budget - and I really love it. Not sure how much difference there is, if any, in the satnav software between SD and tech pack but this one is really, really good.

And that is not a given - the VW RNS-315 integrated system still rates as the worst satnav I have ever used. And that includes my time beta-testing an early device trying to take on Tom Tom and Garmin when they were new.

I use the cd slot holder when needed, so no suction cup windscreen marks.

Depends if you need to use satnav a lot

I added the connectivity pack so I could and a rear camera, which cost me less than ÂŁ80.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the sat nav, I bought the top of the range Garmin nuvi instead and have it located down by the gear stick which works very well and is well hidden from prying eyes as they don't expect it down there

That is not a very safe place to keep it - you will have to take your eyes way off the road to check it if you are a bit in doubt about how to interpret a spoken instruction.

I already had a garmin and had a stand for it that is a nonslip pad that is weighted down. It's perfect, doesn't leave a mark behind and is easy to stow away. I didn't bother with the built in satnav this was 1/3 the price and comes with free updates.

Is the camera a dealer fitted extra? Or did you get it from somewhere else?
