Hi Guys,

I have opened this thread so that we can share the latest information about the UK launch.

The latest information:

I am being told that this event is now cancelled! I will let you know when I hear more

The national launch will now take place on the 13th November at Battersea Power Station. 100 customers (with guests), Audi UK staff and selected dealer representatives will be invited to collect their new cars/demonstrators.

There will be an 'Iconic City Tour' comprising of a 30-minute police escorted drive taking in the sights of London. There will be a high standard of entertainment and refreshments throughout the event ending in a mass drive-away of upto 300 A1s at 4PM.

If you are lucky enough to be selected, you will be given a 45 minute handover appointment prior to the optional tour. Only customers that are scheduled for delivery before the end of the first week of November, will be eligible. Centres will be provided with a list of provided with a list of their eligible customers and asked to select just one! Dealer staff will then be present to hand the customers order over and bring back a demonstrator.

The following weekend will see the centre launches. I would have thought that most centres will put on a good show. Our will be just as big as our recent A8 launch (video here: http://pooleaudi.blogspot.com/2010/05/poole-audi-launch-all-new-audi-a8-and.html), but with added fun factor! This will see the car launched and most centres will use this as the trigger to allow customers to collect their cars.

More details are being confirmed on a daily basis so I will update this thread with the latest information.

Hope this helps

I've heard from a reliable source who has been to the A1 launch training in munich, that the VIP event WILL be in London, at Battersea in fact and on the 13th November. They may let customers pick their cars up on the same day, as too many people will kick off about having to wait yet another week!! Fingers crossed that's true!!

Well I have also heard plans about Battersea also from CLT training in Munich Airport. This is still being considered, however has not been confirmed. There are a few different plans being considered. There is a meeting tomorrow containing heads of businesses and Audi UK. I will let you know any news.

These things change very fast. I have some exclusive information that I cannot reveal yet... Once allowed I will reveal it here first!

I have official Audi Uk launch info here on my desk and the current official line is that due to traffic limitations London has been ruled out. Either way it is not long now until we can start driving our new machines!

The UK launch has been posponed to allow time for more cars to be built.

Does this mean that we regular customers won't get our cars till the 20th Nov?
Given that my car has a build week of wk38, which is late sept, I am not best pleased at having to wait til the 20th Nov (at the earliest) to get my car.

The official launch is the 20th November. The 13th is an advanced launch for a select lucky few.

Very sorry John, but there is nothing I can do to help you on this. The only thing I can offer is to put some pressure on your dealer to select you - they can only select one!

If your final confirmed build date is week 38 and please check this as these early confirmed slots were mainly for demonstrator builds and the NVS cutover (the new VWG ordering system) pushed many cars back a few weeks anyway. Week 38 would give a delivery of around around the end of October, meaning that you are eligible for the Driveaway event.

I will post on this forum (under the launch thread) when dealers get their lists of eligible customers. That would be a good time for you to call your sales specialist!

Let me know if I can do anything

Thanks Chris, this confirms what my Audi guys have told me already. Going to London would be a giant pain for us, so I have told them NOT to select us! My order is still showing wk 38, but only at status 10, needs to go to status 20 to be confirmed. My guys are watching it for me though, they are an excellent dealership (Perth).

Just need to be patient I guess, although not helped by the fact that I have sold my wife's car, so she has nicked mine!

Having your car stolen is truly a pain, I hope your new one shows up without further delay.

Edinburgh Audi eh? ... is that some building or what? The first time I went in there I ignored the cars and just admired the stunning architecture of the place. Very, very impressive, although it later dawned on me how much it must have cost, and that it was all coming from the profit margin that we punters provide. That sobered me up a bit. :?

Mind you, if you think that's good, wait till you go to the factory  I did a petrolheads tour of Germany earlier this year, going to the Mercedes museum, the Porsche museum and factory, and then the Audi Forum and factory at Neckarsulm ... amazing!

Funny, I just had a letter from the dealership sayingexactly the same thing, and then my dealer phoned to apologise. It seems the letter is generated by the system and is not strictly accurate. The week 38 is true (and confirmed) but Audi will not be releasing any cars until the official launch date. He knew that would be mid Nov, but said the final date was still not confirmed.

The suggestion is that the "show" launch will be in London on 13th Nov, with the dealer launches being a week later on the 20th Nov. Audi have not yet finally confirmed this to their dealers, many of whom appear not to even know this much. ;)

I beg to differ. I have access to the same systems as all of the UK dealers and there has been launch information on Audi Desktop (a system that sales guys are supposed to login to everyday!) since the day after I posted the info here. Every dealer in the country has this information and will be receiving their lists of eligible customers very soon. Many dealers, including Poole Audi have already planned this event and have staff selected to attend.

I have confirmed my own attendance at the event to collect an Audi UK registered car. This event is confirmed, if for some reason it gets posponed (unlikely as entertainment and structures are booked) then I will let you know before anybody else
