Hi all,

Last month I ordered a 2012 spec A1 (spec to follow). Yesterday I got a call from my dealership telling me the car is delayed due to the factory which makes the paint (glacier white in my case) having issues due to the Japan tsunami. Apparently other colours such as Daytona Grey are also affected, has anyone else been told their car is delayed?

The expected delivery for my car is the 3rd week of September.

If you're interested, here is the spec of what I ordered:

- S-line 1.4TFSI (122ps)
- Standard 17" S-line model alloys
- Glacier white paint (with no contrast line)
- Xenons
- BOSE surround sound
- Connectivity pack
- Comfort pack
- Advanced key

One month waiting is already killing me... lasting until the back-end of September is going to be painful.

I have ordered a similar spec Glacier, although a TDI. I haven't heard anything about a delay from my dealer, but i wanted to collect in september anyway. :)

I've ordered Amalfi White on a TDI Sport with Daytona contrast line. I've been told late July.

I've just had another call from my dealer, apparently the A1 (in glacier white at least) no longer has the delay - mine is now expected late July. The other delayed colour my dealer mentioned was misano red - I'm not sure if it's just the glacier that's back on track or all metallic colours. I think they want the A1 to take off so well, they are doing anything they can to prevent delays to current orders - new orders from now until they catch up are probably going to have delays for metallic paint.

Sorry for the somewhat erroneous information in my initial post but I'm just relaying it from my dealer.

HI I too am having problems with not only the paint but the SLine too. I have been told that they can't give me a date for my Daytona grey A1 - however they are compensating me with cash - still negotiating how much. So don't let them get away with it.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately guys, my health hasn't been top-notch and work has been manic to say the least!

I thought I'd try to shed some light on this topic.

As mentioned previously, the natural disaster in Japan has caused delays to the production of cars from every manufacturer. Fortunately, Audi don't get a lot of parts from Japan, but there are still knock on effects from the disaster.

There are supply problems with a paint pigment called 'Xirallic', which is used to produce a number of metallic and pearl effect paints. In individual cases this will see a delay until atleast week 36 (2nd week of September) and lead times for vehicles ordered in these colours are likely to extend further. All centres are being asked to contact customers effected by this matter to discuss their options.

Audi UK are offering support to customers affected consisting of:
Any customer who changes paint colour to a non-Xirallic colour that is still metallic, or pearl, will see a refund of the price of pearl effect paint. Any customer that changes to a standard colour will obviously save that amount, but will also see a further discount of the price of pearl effect paint.

New orders placed will obviously not see the saving as they should be warned by the sales specialist.

The colours affected by this problem on the A1 are: Daytona grey, Teak brown, Shiraz red and Misano red.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

A number of you have contacted me to ask if we have any stock cars in Daytona grey, or Misano red and so here is a link to our current new car stock: http://www.pooleaudi.co.uk/new-audi/A1/A1-Hatchback/3/

Hope it helps

Thanks for the info Chris, so Glacier is unaffected on the A1?

The reason i ask is that Glacier is affected on the other models and that the A1 Glacier is a new colour so i wasn't sure if the mailout guys had missed it as its new to the A1.

Still no commitment as this is a factory problem. I am being told that it is fine on the A1 - perhaps they have enough stores, but without any orders for Glacier at our centre I cannot confirm this. Your signature says you have one on order, have you spoken to your dealership yet?

They've been given a list of cars affected (not all cars have been) and should be contacting you to change colour if it is. From what I am told Glacier is ok for existing orders of A1, however there won't be anymore allowed in the system until the supply is reinstated...
