Just wondering what everyone pays for their A1 insurance.

I am 38 have 6 years NCD and pay £300 a year including protected NCB.

Just saw on the news that a 17 year old driver wanted to buy a 1984 Land Rover for £1000... Until he got his insurance quote of £9311 :shock:

Half the price of a nice A1!!!

currently £480 fully comp - class 1 (expensive) for a central manchester post code (also expensive) - 5+ protected NCB and courtesy car and I'm almost 50 - very expensive overall - but at renewal at the end of the month I expect this to go down a lot.

Hrrm who'd you go with? I got a quote of about 800 with 2 year NCB with admiral, I'm 26 living in central London!
It was a higher quote, but I added my mum as a 2nd driver and it lowered it by about 80

I did the usual go compare type sites but all around the same!

Anyone got any tips? Do u get better rates calling the insurers direct?

It could be your postcode causing the high quote... Central London.

Try www.swiftcover.com or try a cashback site like www.quidco.com

I have had about £800 cashback over the years!

around £700, with First Direct. Lost my NCB this year after an accident in the snow though

I'm 25 and live in north manchester..thats the main reason for the high quote - north manchester is a crime hotspot

Admiral. I'm from near Manchester tho which is rated a safe area, got parents down as additional drivers too. Would have been 2 years NCB but I made a windscreen chip claim and didn't read swiftcovers small print last year. most don't bother with windscreens on NCB's

Managed to put my sister on too (new driver) only went up by £20

Aviva are doing 12 weeks free insurance give them a try for sure.

Aviva and Direct Line aren't on the comparison sites.
Over recent years I've found Aviva to give best quote and excellent service - £275 for me inc legal and courtesy car with full and protected ncb, £150 excess if I use their repairer and £350 if I choose.
