How much does it cost?
Depends on what you want done, what products are used to finish the car, what the people you go to charge, and how bad your car is to start with :D

Have a look here as a guide

Or you can buy the products and do it yourself. Detailing is getting the best look you can out of your car and giving it good protection from the elements. It can be as simple as washing and waxing or as far as paint correction, removing scratches etc.

It's also an expensive hobby as I've probably got £200 off just car cleaning products :D

I second that!

I use autoglym HD wax at the moment and that's a cheaper one at around £40. Add wash mitts, the right cloths, microfibre towels, snow foam etc it soon adds up!

Haven't tried AG HD wax yet, I'm more of a dodo juice wax man haha

Got to love the snow foam though best part of the cleaning.

Ahh I haven't tried dodo juice but might try it next time around! Hoping to keep the car for a while so want it looking like new as long as possible!

I've been looking into detailing since reading about it on this site for the first time. We were going to have the dealer protect the paint (for free) but even then paying out £160 - £200 to have it done correctly seems like good value for money.

I'm also in the West Midlands and looking at:

http://www.detailmyride.co.uk/ - use Dodo Juice and Zaino which seems to be the dogs bollocks in detailing products (from what I read)

http://www.beautechnique.co.uk/page12.htm - I found some good examples of their work on detailing world website.

http://www.midlandsdetailing.co.uk/ - quoted £175 to prepare a new car and are based in West Brom.

Here are a few more: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... hp?t=59868

I wouldn't mind a recommendation on one of them but they all look like they do the job.

Let us know where you go.
