ANYONE KNOW FIX FOR A1 1.4tfsi that intermittently will not exceed 4000rpm, engine hot or cold, and no engine management light coming on. Also no fault codes showing on meter. Thank you

In what gear is the car when it won't exceed 4000rpm? There are "soft" limits in most engine management software these days so that, for example you cannot rev the engine when the car is stationary, or the oil is cold etc etc.

Are you sure this is a fault and not inbuilt engine protection being activated?

Thank you very much for response. On occasion, engine full working temperature, 3rd gear going uphill, 4000rpm limit cuts in, reduce to 3800, then increase power, and revs will then exceed 4000. Throttle body or temporary low fuel pressure has been suggested ??

No sign of a misfire, just a refusal to rev? It could be a fuelling or electronics issue (faulty sensor?) or, possibly, something else. if no fault codes have been logged, it could be problematic to find out what the cause is. In the old days you could phone up the importers (VAG UK) and speak to a technician but it seems that this was stopped some years ago, probably for fear of being sued if advice was given that was incorrect even if it was based on misleading information from the customer. Instead we all got referred to dealers who could then contact "master technicians" for advice. have you tried speaking to a dealer's service department to see if they can offer advice or suggestions?

EDIT:
Have you looked here?
