hey,

just ordered my new phantom black 1.6 TDI Sport. its apparently just about to be shipped so i have been told around 23-26th Jan delivery date.

I was considering either getting the 1.4 tfsi or the 1.6 tdi however chose the tdi as i was turned by the fuel mpg as i drive allot for work.

- do you think that this was a good choice in this model and car...?

- are there any other 18 year olds or close on here...?

cant wait to get out and drive it!

thanks.

That must be one of the shortest waits ever - very quick.
How you play music from iPHONE / iPOD depends on whether you've got the Connectivity Pack or not. Without it you get an AUX in socket, with it you get the Audi Music Interface which allows you to control the IPHONE from the radio and you can stream music from it by Bluetooth (you may be able to stream as standard but the brochure suggests not and I've got the Conectivity Pack so can't check). In this case you don't get the AUX in socket.

I did not opt for the connectivity pack so I'm glad I get a AUX slot. I guess time will tell if I can play over Bluetooth...
The reason it's a shot wait is because the garage found one just about to be shipped that was the same spec as what I wanted to order. However I did have to pay extra for the phantom black as I wanted the standerd black.. What's the difference..? Lol.

Never had an Audi befor so getting excited. Just managed to sell my Passat today so I'm all redy to go!

You're very lucky getting it so quickly - mine was on order for around 7 months.
Phantom Black is metallic.
I think VWs are good but there's something a bit special about an Audi.

My only worry was that because it's such a small car would it actually have the feel of a Audi, and would the quality be the same... I've driven a3's quite allot and thought they were fantastic hence why I wanted this car in the first place, I just hope it's the same!!

Also is there any running in period on these cars, ne'er had a new car before... Lol

Cheers.

Basically you take it easy for the first 600 to 1000 miles - no heavy acceleration and only use about two thirds of the rev range - tells you in the book. Its no hardship really - you can still exceed the speed limit in top lol. Make sure you check the oil - they tend to use a little in the first 600 to 1000 miles or so.

I've had 5 A3's this feels just as good - in some ways better. It has a real big car feel - partially due to the steering being quite high geared and nicely weighted. It feels really well planted on the road

Lucky guy - not many 18 year olds will have a new Audi. You must have a well paid job. Early 90's I ended up being insured on my Dads new Audi 80 having been insured on his previous car. I got some envious looks from some people. :D

Hi

You must be very excited. There are quite a few young A1 buyers on here (to my surprise).

I can't begin to imagine what the annual insurance premium would be for an 18 year old male. I guess its a bit more than the £220 I've just paid for mine?

When I was young, my 17 year old boyfriend had a brand new limited-edition Ford Escort (well, it was quite an exciting car at the time and even had some go-faster stripes). The police stopped him several times to check if he was really the owner.

Have fun in your A1.

Great news, been informed by my dealer that my car should be with me before the expected delivery date as it arrived in the uk last Thursday and apparantly it will take around 7-10 days!
Getting rather excited now! Does anyone know how good the SD card reader is and works for playing and selecting music on the cars stero.?

Thanks, Rob.
