When i was in Carmarthen studying to become a teacher at the training college back in 1991, there were one or two quite impressive number plates on some clapped out cars.

The two i will always remember are PL12 on a series 2 land Rover used by a local worker in a foundary,i saw that car every day, and the other was NL7 which was on a very tired almost on its last legs Mk1 Golf in White.

I have no wonder who owned the Golf, but i think it was owned by a local farmer, because i always saw it on Wednesdays during Market Day.

I still go to Carmarthen now and again, and you still see some very impressive expensive plates on cars that normally would not get a second look.

Talking about Councils, Cardiff City Council used to own the plate L1.
I believe they sold it several years ago, for some undisclosed figure.
It used to reside on the Lord Mayors official car, and had been owned by the Cardiff authority for many years.
