I've never heard of being charged for a test drive, very strange. If your not happy paying it ring VW customer service and ask them to pay it on your behalf, if they want you to buy their product then they should cover the cost.

Ah true, I might do that.
Not got much spare cash at the moment as I'm about to leave my job so they are mucking my pay around as much as they can, so £12 saved will be good!

That's a lot of money for a golf over 24 months it's costing around £550 a month plus insurance and fuel

My Audi costs about the same, so it might as well get a better car for the same money

It may be a Golf but its £30k and 300 BHP, so a bit of a bargain really. I''ll be paying £290.00 per month with a £1500 deposit for my billy basic 5 door DSG, I was paying more for the A1 and my wife's present MINI

Looks like I'll be getting myself a S3. While the R is great I just don't like the fact it's not the best looker. A GTi is the far better/sporty looking but too expensive for what it is.
Reason I'm going for a S3 is I went to see the new TT yesterday and while a lovely peice of kit it's very pricey and realistically a good nine months before getting it on the driverway.
I'm going to hold out a few years, wait for the TTS and droptop and then decide.
S3 in the meantime will be a stop gap.
