What's your next car?

Discuss other models in the Audi range, or other Marques

I'm currently considering new S3 or Golf GTI. Starting to think about it now as ideally want to change March 2014. 5 months people are being quoted on S3 delivery times :o

New S3 all things considered is £5k more than GTI but is different league in performance. Like A45 AMG but £37k before options is just out of my price range really.

I'm hoping gong back to Audi, getting a decent discount and a higher guaranteed future value will make the S3 affordable. If not ill be getting the GTI. Seems on Audi-Sport forum guys are getting 7% off already so hoping will be a bit more in 9 months time.
A1 185 Black Edition (sadly gone - not forgotten)

Now driving - S3 Sportback (wow....just wow!)

Golf equivalent would be a Golf R rather than a GTI surely?

Yep, but if I'm going to be spending more than £28k ideally want to get in to an S3. Love how subtle it is. Also the mk7 Golf interior looks great but does have some cheap looking shiny plastics. The A3 interior is an incredibly nice place to sit.

Hold out for the new TT.
It'll be lighter, better looking and cheaper than the S3.
Although on paper the S3 appeals to me it's just too boring looking...

S3 Saloon? Much better looking than the hatch if you need a touch of practicality.

Good shout - but TT is too small. Plus to get the same performance would have to go for TTS which is more than normal S3.

It does look a bit dull but think as I approach my 30's that's part of the appeal! It is a bit of a joke how much you don't get as standard on S3 compared to Golf GTI - that said I might be tempted by a R32 (or whatever they call it now) just from
point of view it it will be a bit cheaper and better speced but with same performance as S3......much to think about !

I think the S3 looks better than the gti. The mk7 is just too boxy and heavy looking. The bonnet looks like it ate all the pies!
S3 is well priced I think, decently spec'd up it not to dissimilar to my TT.
I would go for the sportback as it does look better balanced then the three door.

I will test drive one to see what the power delivery is like though I've never been too keen on the last S3 and TTS power units, they're only on song right up the rev range, no different to the 185.
The EA888 in the TT and GTI is a real peach of an engine on the other hand. Ok there's less power but I find it a far more flexible engine.

If the new TT doesn't live up to the hype it looks like I'll finally go for the midlife crisis Porsche next :o
