Audi S5

What are your thoughts on the Audi S5?

I wouldnt mind something with a bit of power although running costs are a bit of a worry.

Has anyone owned one? Or know the road tax cost?

Ive had a RS4 but not a S5.Early ones are V8 so £450 ish road tax, and mid to high teens mpg around the doors. The later model is 3.0T, I'm not sure of the tax band but mpg around the high teens to low 20's I'd guess.The early cars are a lot of car for the money.

Mpg isnt too bad considering the driving i do in my tdi is currently giving me 30mpg so there shouldnt be much difference.

These modern tdi's are just no good for the road trips i normally do. Its good on the motorway though.

S5 is Quattro

Lofty, would you suggest a V8 then rather than the 3.0?

From what i read the V8 is a lower powered RS4 engine?

Looks like the 3.0T is £250 per year tax, but i'd still go for the V8, sounds much better for the sake of an extra £4 per week tax.I really dont like turbo's, the V8 is also older, so much cheaper I'd imagine.You can also tell your friends down the pub that your car has got the same engine as a R8 (more or less)
