.
.
..................MM087 Cleaning Procedure.................

Preparation before you start and to stop you running around like a Headless Chicken.

Mix up 3 x 947ml Spray Bottles with G101. Dilution Ratio of Solution:Hot Water as follows
- Alloy Wheels 1:20
- Wheel Arches 1:10
- Lower Bodywork/Front End 1:50

- Mix up Snow Foam Mixture. Add 1inch of Magifoam to 1L of Hot Water in Snow foam Lance.

Interior:

1). Vacuum Carpets, Seats etc
2). Polish surfaces using; Aerospace 303 Protectant (Spray onto Cloth instead of the Surface)
3). Polish Windows (Ideally don't use normal window cleaner)
4). Add Autosmart Air-Freshener

------

Alloy Wheels & Arches

- Spray Wheels / Arches using Appropriate G101 Solution: Allow to Soak for up to 5 Minutes. DO NOT ALLOW TO DRY ON
- Agitate Alloy Wheels using EZ Brush (not on the alloy wheel face)
- Agitate Arches with Special Scrubbing Brush

-------

Bodywork

1). Using Karcher Pressure Washer rinse car
2). Spray lower bodywork (Halfway up the door)/bumpers/front lip of bonnet etc with G101 (Above Dilution Rate)
3). Allow to Soak for 5 Minutes
4). Using Snow Foam Lance cover the: Car including; Alloy Wheels, Arches etc in a thick layer of Magifoam
5). Allow this to sit on the car for up to 30 Minutes (The longer the better the results)
6). Use Karcher to Rinse off
7). Use 2 Bucket Method (Inc Grit Guards) to wash car: Select Suitable Shampoo (Ideally Ph Neutral) I use either: Dodo Juice or Gtechniq Wash ! DO NOT USE A Sponge ! Use a Lambswool Washmitt to Avoid Swirl Marks and Scratches
8). Use ENVY Detailing Brushes to clean around the; Grille, Door Shuts, Boot, Badges etc
9). Use Karcher to Rinse off
10). Dry Bodywork with Extra Large Fluffy Drying Towel (If Possible use, 1 For: Lower Bodywork, Upper Bodywork, Windows). DO NOT USE AQUABLADE AS THIS WILL SCRATCH YOUR CAR

Depending on Previous upkeep of the car you May need to:
- Claybar your Car to remove paint contaminants
- Iron X to remove Iron Contamination etc
- Machine Polish to remove Marring, Swirl Marks etc (Do not Attempt if you do not know what you are doing)

-------

Protect

Select Wax/Sealant or Similar

1). Ensure Bodywork is Perfectly Clean and free from Tar Spots etc
2). If Required use Clay Bar and Iron X to gain optimum results
3). Spray on Autofinesse Tough Coat
4). Buff on to Paintwork (you will be able to see the circular motions) using Microfibre Cloth/Polishing Pad
5). Leave to haze (As per manufacturer Instructions)
6). Using Microfibre cloth Polish to Perfection

Tyres:

1). Ensure Tyres are Perfectly Clean (Use Scrubbing Brush)
2). Wipe using Blue Poly Cloths
3). Ensure the Wheel is Dry
4). Apply Tyre Gel or Similar: Gtechniq T1 is very good as is Autosmart Smart Wheels
5). Leave to dry on for up to 30 Minutes before driving
6). Using Microfibre; Buff Tyre Walls (This will also remove any excess and stop any of the Gel etc Slinging on to the Paintwork)

Alloy Wheels:

1). Ensure Alloys have been thoroughly cleaned (As Above, if required Clay Bar and use Iron X to remove contaminants)
2). Ensure Alloys are Dry
3). Apply Poorboys Wheel Sealant using Microfibre Cloth
4). This will go Pinkish/White and leave on for 5 Minutes or so
5). Using 2nd Microfibre Cloth polish to remove the Excess Product and achieve desired Result

Sit Back and Go WOW

Then Set about cleaning up all your Equipment and the Snow Foam Mess, ha ha ha

Im going to make a lot of peoples life easier with this link...........

But for all sorts of products you must visit http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk. This is the best site ever!!! It has everything and most professionals seem to get their stuff from there. Has all the major brands and has a lot of seller feedback on individual products which a lot of sites don't have and trust me you need this before you spend £20 on a quick detailers :o

The service is excellent and the site layout is very easy to use. :) Think it would go nicely under the "site for all products" bit.
A1 185 Black Edition (sadly gone - not forgotten)

+1 for http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk

Its where I got my stuff, fast delivery, pretty good prices and helpful customer reviews of products.

Spent most of the day yesterday cleaning and protecting my A1 for the rest of winter as follows:

First and most importantly, as has been mentioned on the forum before - use the two bucket method and ditch that sponge for a soft washmitt (lambswool is good).

Used:
Valet pro Ph neutral snow foam - didnt cling for long as I would have liked but 1st attempt so may have got the mix wrong

Autoglym shampoo - disappointing, mixed to the stated ratio and wasnt sudsy enough, had to add more and keep giving the bucket a blast with the pressure washer to get suds.

Dodo born to be mild shampoo - Expensive but fantastic, loads of suds and lubricated well when washing, Smelled awesome too, more like something you would use in the shower than on the car.

FinishKare Fkp1000 high temp wax - says its a wax but is listed as a sealant. Comes in a huge tin that will last ages, was easy enough to use despite the cold temperatures, make sure you apply it thin and dont leave it too long before buffing off. Left a glass like finish on the car, unbelievably shiny, supposed to be really durable too.

Collinite 845 insulator wax - Top layer of protection on top of the fkp1000. Might be overkill, but wanted to protect it as much as possible for the rest of winter so that hopefully I can just give it a quick wash/rinse every so often. 845 was easy to apply, seemed to dull the glass like shine of the fkp1000 ever so slightly to leave the car with a slightly warmer look. Put two coats of the 845 on the alloys. In an autoexpress test it surprisingly beat the really well reviewed poorboys wheel sealant for protecting wheels.

Be interesting to see how durable the FKp1000 and collinite 845 turn out to be, apparently they can last 6 months to a year, we'll see.

If you want to get ultra geeky :ugeek: about cleaning your car have a look at the "detailing world" website, more information about car care than you can imagine.

I would do a thread but had hoped for a proper section for car care etc ...

Anyway:

The Products:

Bodywork:

Autosmart G101: Brilliant all-rounder. It a concentrate product, which you dilute anything up to 1:100 ! I use to the following ratio (G101 to Hot Water): Don't allow to dry on to the Bodywork/Alloy Wheels and Always read the Instructions for use.
- Alloy Wheels 1:20 (You will still need to use an EZ Brush or Similar)
- Wheel Arches 1:10 (Scrubbing Brush recommended)
- Lower Bodywork/Front End 1:50

I Picked up a 5L Bottle for £11.00 from my Local Autosmart Man (As the Guy in the Van is a Franchise prices do Vary between sellers by a couple of pounds and they will do it cheaper if Paying Cash) !

You can find your local rep by contacting Autosmart at the following site: http://www.autosmart.co.uk/

--------

Autobrite HD Snow Foam Lance - £45.00 Superb for cleaning cars, loosens dirt on the Paintwork, it reduces the risk of scratching your paintwork and makes cleaning a dodge especially if you have more than the 1 car to clean ! Bear in mind it does make something of a mess, so advisable not to do it on a Public Highway unless you are willing to clean up your mess !

http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/index. ... ctors.html

--------

Autobrite Magifoam - £22.00 Use with the Above snow foam Lance. Add Approx 1inch of Magifoam to 1L of Hot Water. Shake Well and Serve. Has a nice Banana Fragrance, Surprisingly I haven't slipped on the Foam Yet ! Not good for Grandad Moj as it May cause a Premature Hip Replacement

Dwell time once left on the car is up to 30 Minutes (Don't allow it to dry on to the car)

http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/index. ... ifoam.html

--------

Autofinesse Tough Coat - £20.00 Simply Brilliant !
